Kihaku Shibas: Creating a Legacy through a Balanced Dog.

A chinese lion statue

We feel the the best shiba is a balanced, structured, working shiba. All of our dogs have a very busy stimulated day followed by a calm rest filled night. Days are filled with training, shows, trials, matchs, and mental stimulation. Our shibas are challenged at every opportunity and live a fullfilling life thanks to it.

All of our dogs have a job. Weither it is conformation in the breed ring, obedience and agility trials, animal assisted activites, or trying new dog activites. They are always learning, thinking and doing.

Training isn't the end all either. Mental stimulation through learning toys fills their offtime with growth and fun.

Innisfree Mashigura of Kihaku RN CGC (Mashi):

Updated: August 13, 2008

Sire: Ch. Innisfree Skrimshaw Watchman Dam: Ch. Innisfree Darjeeling Born: 06/26/07 Breeder: Kathleen Kanzler

MashiNews! March 19 2009: Mashi earns his Rally Novice title. Earned in 3 shows with 1st and 3rd placements.

Mashi earned his CGC at Camp Barking Hills on 5/26/2008.

Mashi's name is a bit of a joke. Mashigura means "at full speed" but Mashi means "monkey". Both fit him perfectly. Mashi is growing into our little superstar. He loves nothing more in this work then to learn... well and eat. But they go hand in hand in this house.

Mashi is training for obedience and agility at the moment. Rally will follow but we are having too much fun doing formal exercises. He excels at everything he is taught. He picks things up at lightning speed. Faster then any of the other shibas in the family. He is just a joy to train.

He is an amazing little monster and we have very high hopes for him.

He is currently training for his performance titles and dabbling in conformation.

Sire: Ch. Taichung Kokoro Of Niji Dam: Taichung Sweet Succes O Niji Born: 1/16/07 Breeder: Alyssa Goldman

News! 9/18/09 In Saphira's first time out in the Rally ring she took HIT with a perfect 100!

3/8/09: Saphira is certified as a therapy dog with Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs Inc.

Saphira earned her CGC at Camp Barking Hills on 5/26/2008.

Our little Diva Dog. Saphira came to us from Niji Shibas in Rockaway NJ. She is an elegant girl with a ton of class and spunk. She loves to show and lives to run around the conformation ring. Her home pass times are Rally and learning tricks through Shaping. We think she will make a wonderful Animal Assisted Activities dog someday and will certainly have some Rally and Obedience titles under her belt by the time she is an old lady.

Kihaku's Poetry in Motion (Haiku):

Haiku

Haiku is our first shiba. He was purchases as a pet quality shiba for the purposes of training for performance events. Haiku is so much more then we ever imagined. He is the cuddle bug of the family but is also happy doing nothing else but throwing a tennis ball around by himself.

He is a wonder with the foster dogs. He is so patient and is so good at teaching the foster the rules of being a dog. He can take a dog reactive foster and an few minute later, have them both be laying calmly a foot away from eachother.

Haiku enjoys training for competition obedience but is about to take some time off to dabble in agility.

Kihaku Eowyn Tracker of Peace CGC (Tracker):

Tracker

Tracker is our first dog. We got her at the Philadelphia Pound. She is not a shiba. In fact we are not 100% sure what she is. We and a few others think she is actually a rare breed called a Ryukyu. But no matter. To us she is Tracker and that is plenty good for us.

She is insanely smart and very good at problem solving as well. She taught herself to open gates and crates all by herself. She loves to shape tricks and enjoys practicing Rally. She earned her CGC a while ago is training for her National Animal Assisted Activities Certification.
